Christmas Gnomes originated in Scandinavia, known by the name Nisse - a mythical creature in Norse folklore, that roughly translates to goblin. According to tradition, the Nisse live in the houses and barns of a farmstead, and secretly act as the family guardians. However when offended, they are known for being short tempered, where they will play tricks and steal items, causing chaos in the homestead.
