Hunting Scene With Boar Head 8 Day Mechanical Carved Cuckoo Clock 51cm By GERHARD SCHMIEDER

Measuring 51cm in height*, this exquisite limited edition hand-carved clock was designed by Clock Shop owner Phil Hoffman in 2018. Phil commissioned Gerhard Schmieder to make only 5 copies of this special edition hunting cuckoo clock which in many ways can be considered similar to the famous ‘Before The Hunt’ and ‘After The Hunt’ cuckoo clock designs. Whilst these designs usually feature a pheasant and a hare hanging upside down on either side of the clock dial, this clock instead features a hanging pig and deer on either side of the clock dial, a depiction designed by Phil himself. Additional differences include the addition of a hand carved trophy boar head at the crown of the hunting scene, whilst most hunting clocks instead feature a stag or a bird at the crown. 

Additional details to complete the hunting scene include a powder bag at the base of the clock, as well as beautiful oak foliage which adorns the clock. At the base of the clock, a timber pendulum hangs, alongside the weights, rounding out this fantastic hunting scene, with all elements deeply carved. As this clock is an 8 day mechanism, the weights need to be wound once a week. The in-built cuckoo of this clock calls the time each hour through a door that opens, and this clock does not play any music.

This exceptionally carved cuckoo clock by Gerhard Schmieder features deep and detailed carvings, with attention to detail that is clearly evident. The finished products are truly spectacular, and the journey of this clock from the design and the planning stages in Gerhards workshop, to receiving the finished product is wonderful to watch.
