Measuring 38cm in height, this exquisite mechanical mantel clock represents an elegant blend of timekeeping and science. The name Tellurium is derived from the latin word ‘tellus’ which translates to ‘Earth’, and rightly so, as these highly precise clocks feature intricate designs that showcase the choreography of the Earth, Sun and Moon's rotation in the Solar System in real time as outlined below. The Tellurium III mantel clock is a further development of the elegant Tellurium series, and features a rotating Sun God, Earth & Moon within a beautiful antique walnut case. 

Whilst the Earth rotates on its own axis once every 24 hours, it also makes a complete orbit around the Sun once every 365 days, represented as a calendar year. At the base of the mechanism is a detailed disc that has been polished and engraved with the days and months of the year, as well as the 12 constellations of the zodiac- the Earth will pass around this whole disc over the course of a year. The Earth’s tilt of 23.5 degrees on its axis is accurately represented, as is the Moon's 29.5 day lunar orbit around the Earth, taking the same time to spin around on its axis once.

This tellurium clock features an impressive white dial with neat roman numerals and breguet hands; and a unique skeleton design that allows visibility into the inner gears that represent motions from 24 hours right down to the seconds, all done in perfect unison with the daily rotation of the Earth. The overall design is made from solid wood with an antique walnut finish; a front and back door; metal applications, pearl decor and polished brass columns. The entire timepiece is housed by a curved glass dome, hand made from ‘Schott’ crystal glass, featuring etched stars over the dome. 

This elegant clock is fitted with a high quality mechanical 8-day 4/4 Westminster chime bell strike movement, with 11 jewel Swiss escapement. This clock features rear mounted chime hammers on polished brass bells, that play the famous Westminster chime quarterly and hourly, and requires winding once a week. To wind the clock you simply insert a key into the holes present in the dial. The tellurium 3 has an automatic night-time shut-off to allow you a sound sleep, as well as a complete chime deactivation setting should that be preferred. The movement and the case are both 100% German made, ensuring an item of high quality and precision.
