Modeled Off A 19th Century Vienna Regulator Clock
This high quality traditional German longcase grandfather clock was designed by world renowned clock makers in Germany, and is similar in design to early English longcase clocks, and Vienna regulator clocks of the 19th century.
Measuring 204cm in height, this exquisite grandfather clock features an impressive round white enamel dial with contrasting black roman numerals and neat black breguet hands, rounded out by a polished brass bezel. A seperate smaller dial is featured for the seconds hand. Rounding out the body of this fascinating clock is a solid timber case made from alder or maple wood, and burnished into a mahogany colour. At the front of the clock are two doors, one for the dial and one for the pendulum & weights, protected by bevelled glass panels, with additional side panels that allows high visibility into the impressive inner features. Some of these features include the clock movement mounted on polished brass mounts, polished brass weights and long pendulum.
This elegant grandfather clock is fitted with a high quality German Kieninger 8-day cable driven movement, and plays the famous Westminster chime (also known as the "Big Ben" chime or the "Westminster Quarters"). The sound is produced from longer chime rods which give a deeper, richer sound to the chime and strike, which would carry well in any home. The movement and case are both 100% German made, ensuring an item of high quality. In addition to these features, the clock also has an automatic night-time shut-off mode, as well as the option to silence the clock altogether should that be preferred. This clock needs to be wound once a week by inserting a crank key into the holes in the clock dial and winding the cable.
Some additional features of this tall clock include the addition of a key storage compartment in the bottom panel of the clock, as well as an adjustment nodule on the pendulum to help regulate the speed.
Traditionally, grandfather clocks have not changed much over the centuries and to this day they still represent the amazing craftsmanship of both clock making and carpentry, keeping in style with a passage of time that is still well loved in todayβs society. These timeless designs serve as generational keepsakes, having existed for over 400 years already, and are commonly also referred to as βLongcase Clocksβ, βFloor Clocksβ, or βTall-Case Clocksβ.
