Many cuckoo clocks feature automaton which are moving figurines such as wood choppers and beer drinkers which move when the clock calls the time or the music plays.

Most battery cuckoo clocks come with a 3 way switch that allows you to choose the option of cuckoo & music, cuckoo only or no sound. So if you didn't want music but liked the design of the clock you can simply turn off the music.

Some mechanical cuckoo clocks play music after the clock calls the time.

1 Day clocks must be wound every 24 hours whilst 8 day clocks are wound once a week.

Battery clocks are highly accurate timepieces that require minimal maintainence of changing the batteries once a year. Mechanical clocks have real weights that are wound either once a day or once a week.

Carved cuckoo clocks are more traditional in their appearance with most of the features carved by hand.
