Look no further than this colourful mechanical clock & weather house, which was produced by artisan clock makers TRENKLE from Simonswald in the Black Forest region of Germany.

At the top is the Swiss chalet style weather house which features a lady and a man who move in and out of the house depending on what the weather is going to do. The lady forecasts fine and sunny weather, whilst the man who is dressed with a raincoat & an umbrella predicts the rainy days. Additional details include a number of hand painted features including the chalet facade and roof. Swiss houses are a popular style of chalet building in the Swiss alps, featuring details that represent life in the mountain regions of Europe (around southern Germany, Switzerland and Austria).

Below the weather house is the clock, which features a wooden clock dial, and elaborate hand painted floral detail that instantly draws the eye. Included in the floral detail is a large Edelweiss flower depicted on the base, amongst other colourful floral motifs. This white star shaped flower is unique to the alps of Germany, Austria and Switzerland mainly. Its name means noble white, and it represents strength, toughness, bravery and courage. This is because the flower survives the harshest winters at very high altitudes.

Perhaps the most unique feature of this delightful clock is the addition of a swinging doll sitting on a swing below the clock, acting as the pendulum. Dressed in traditional Black Forest attire, the doll bounces up and down via a spring, providing a visual delight that is sure to entertain all ages. As this clock is mechanical, it requires winding with a key once a day.
